Women's Lacrosse Extends Win Streak to Five

MADISON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's lacrosse team rolled past Ramapo, 17-6, in a non-conference match up in their fifth-straight win on Sunday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Devils improve to 9-4 as the Roadrunners drop to 5-7 on the season.

Junior Kathleen Petrucelli led the offensive campaign for the Devils with five goals and two assists while senior Cassidy Vastano paired four goals with three assists.

Graduate student Noelle Shirey ran the midfield all game long, winning five draw controls, causing seven turnovers, picking up six ground balls and scoring three goals, with one assist. Junior Caroline Pape won five draw controls, caused two turnovers, and scored twice.

In goal, sophomore Megan Nemeth was outstanding for the Devils, earning the win with a pivotal 10 saves.

Ramapo struck first with a quick goal from Alyssa Tachon, but FDU answered right back one minute later with an equalizer from junior Caitlyn Damon off a feed from Petrucelli.

The Devils scored the next two goals off the stick of Vastano and Petrucelli. The Roadrunners hung in with two more tallies in the first half, but Shirey and Vastano each netted one to hold off the visitors, 5-3, at half time.

Ramapo came within one after netting a goal just 48 seconds into the second half but the Devils regrouped and scored the next three goals to widen their lead, 8-4.

The Roadrunners' Tachon capitalized on a free position goal in the 42nd minute of the contest but with 15:09 remaining, FDU took over with a 7-0 run to seal the deal.

Ramapo scored once more but FDU answered back with two of their own from Shirey and Pape.

Up next, the Devils return to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play when they travel to Center Valley, Pa. to face DeSales University on Wednesday, April 18 at 4 p.m.
