FLOURTOWN, PA. (March 16, 2018) - The FDU men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over Penn State-Abington Friday evening.
With the win, FDU improves to 5-1 on the season. Head Coach
Tom Battaglia earned his first win as the head man of the men's tennis team since taking over the squad in January.
"The team got off to a slow start not having actually competition since Drew," Battaglia said. "We found ourselves down on men's first doubles 5-2."
Seniors
Max Moscowitz,
Steven Serras and
Chris Ly along with sophomores
Kevin Weller and
Chris Fiorenza were double winners on the day. Ly and Fiorenza picked up a 6-3 win at second doubles, whiles Serras and Brendon Urbano won convincingly 6-1 at third doubles. Moscowitz and Weller were in a deep hole at 5-2 at first doubles, but rallied back to win 6-5 (7-4).
Moscowitz had a hard test at first singles, squeaking out an 8-6 win. Weller, Ly and Serras won the next three flights by the same 8-3 score. Fiorenza came up with an 8-1 win at sixth singles to close out the victory for the Devils.
FDU is back in action tomorrow, taking on Elizabethtown at 12 p.m.
