ORLANDO, Fla. (March 13, 2018) - The FDU women's lacrosse team fell to Amherst College 16-5 Tuesday afternoon.
The Devils fall to 2-2 on the season, while Amherst moved to 4-0.
The Mammoths wasted little time, scoring twice within the opening 1:09 of the game. Amherst would tally the opening six markers before junior
Kathleen Petrucelli ended the run with a free position goal. Classmate
Caitlyn Damon added to the Devils goal total, scoring with 17:53 left in the period.
Amherst ended the half with the final three goals, before adding one six minutes into the second stanza. Sophomore
Aliyha Elk recorded her first goal of the season, converting a free-position attempt.
After an Amherst tally, freshman
Olivia Chaoush pumped in her second goal of the season. The Mammoths scored the next five goals before Chaoush closed out the scoring with a free-position goal with 2:24 left.
Junior
Megan Nemeth kept the Devils in the game, making 16 saves while picking up six ground balls. Sophomore
Nina Shirey forced four turnovers on the defensive end, while Petrucelli had a team-high three shots.
FDU is back in action on Wednesday March 21, hosting Vassar College at 3:30 p.m.
