Women's Basketball NCAA Preview

MADISON, N.J. (March 1, 2018) - The FDU women's basketball team is gearing up for a run in the NCAA Tournament which begins Friday night.

TOURNAMENT INFO
The Devils will be on the road for the NCAA Tournament First & Second Round, heading to the campus of Bowdoin College, located in Brunswick, Maine.

GAME DETAILS
FDU will take on Skidmore College in the First Round at 5 p.m. while host Bowdoin battle Husson at 7 p.m. Friday evening. The two winners will meet on Saturday in Second Round at 7 p.m. with all games being played in Morrell Gymnasium.

TICKETS & PARKING
Tickets will cost $7 for adults each day, while senior citizens, children and students are $4. Parking is located near Morrell Gymnasium, while additional parking is located throughout the campus.

HOW THEY GOT HERE?
The Devils claimed their sixth straight Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship when they defeated DeSales 76-59. Skidmore enters the game with an 18-9 record, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Liberty League 65-42 over RIT. Husson is currently 19-9, and won the North Atlantic Championship 76-58 over Maine Maritime. Finally, Bowdoin holds a 24-2 mark, and picked up an at-large bid after falling in the NESCAC Championship.

SCOUTING SKIDMORE
The Thoroughbreds are led by Kelly Donnelly, who is averaging 19.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Donnelly hit the 30-point mark earlier this season against RPI and has totaled 12 double-doubles this season.

FDU REPORT
FDU comes into the weekend with a 21-6 overall record. Sophomore Kendrea Williams was selected as the MAC Freedom Player of the Year and MAC Freedom Tournament Most Valuable Player honors. Williams, classmate Gabrielle Harris and junior Bria Smith each were named First Team All-MAC Freedom. 

DOUBLE-TROUBLE
Smith enters the tournament with averages of 12.3 points and 9.9 points per game this season. She has notched 14 double-doubles this season, including a 24 point/16 rebound effort against DeSales on February 3.

RECORD BREAKER
Williams broke the school-record in points (45) and three-pointers in a game (9) back on December 16. The sophomore also became the second person in program history to score 1,000 career points before the end of her sophomore campaign. The Piscataway, N.J. native scored in double-figures in all but two games, including six 30-point outings.

QUICK HANDS
Junior Raven Dowling is tops on the team with 134 assists and 86 steals this season, while adding 106 boards. Against Drew on December 4, Dowling filled the stat-sheet with nine points, eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals.
