MADISON, N.J. (October 16, 2018) - The FDU-Florham women's soccer team defeated Manhattanville College 8-3, Tuesday night.

Erica Martins and
Brianna Cucinelli also socred once a piece to improve the Devils 2-2-1 in the MAC Freedom. FDU-Florham improves to 10-4-2 overall.
Nieto finished the game with seven points (2G-3A), which was one shy of the program record set back on September 26, 2012, by Claire Donohue vs Lycoming. The three assists ties the program single-game record for assists, has been done five other times prior to tonight by three other people.
The Devils ended their home scoring struggles in the 15
th minute when Scarmozzino received the through ball from Nieto and found the back of the net for the Devils first home goal since September 15
th vs Marywood. Moments later in the 22
nd minute, the Devils were awarded a penalty shot. Nieto took the shot for the Devils and fired the ball passed the diving keeper for her fourth goal of the season. In the 40
th minute, the Valiants earned their first corner of the night and scored off a rebound shot from the corner play. The Devils held a 13-2 shot advantage at half, and a 4-1 advantage in corners.
In the fourth minute of the second half, the Devils took advantage of their 14
th corner of the game when Nieto put the ball in a perfect place for Scarmozzino to head in her second goal of the evening. The assist from Nieto was her tenth of the season which is the fourth most in a single season in program history.
In the 65
th minute Nieto netter her second goal of the evening from a free kick from 19 yards out. The scoring picked up in the 74
th minute. Combined the teams netted five goals within a 10-minute span. The Devils netted the first three while the Valiants netted the last two. Martins netted her fifth goal of the season in the 74
th minute to make it a 5-1 game. Moments later in the 76
th minute, Cucinelli finished a breakaway to net her third goal of the year.
It only took 81 minutes for the team scoring leader to get involved in the scoring as Pita found the back of the net on her first shot of the night. Assisting on the play was Nieto which improved her season total to 11 which puts her in a tie for third. The Valiants would score in the 82
nd and 83
rd minute but the Devils answered with 10 seconds remaining in regulation Pita flicked a shot over the keepers her for her second goal of the night.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ashley Paulino recorded one save in net while earning her tenth win of the season. The 10 wins this season moves her to 18 career victories for the Devils which ties her for fifth all time in program history.
The Devils will travel to Dallas, Pennsylvania to play Misericordia University, Saturday October 20 at 7 p. m.
