Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Lehman

BRONX, N.Y. (October 1, 2018) - The FDU-Florham women's soccer team fell to Lehman 1-0 in a non-conference fixture Monday evening.

The Devils drop to 7-3-1 while Lehman moves to 5-2-1. FDU returns to action Wednesday, heading to the College of Staten Island at 3:30 p.m.

FDU goalkeeper Ashley Paulino had to make a pair of stops in the 35th minute, including one on off of a corner kick. Two minute player, FDU had a chance from sophomore Tatiana Nieto that stopped by Rebecca Gritz. After entering as a substitute in the 43rd minute, junior Erika Pita created a chance after just 30 seconds. Pita's attempt sailed just wide.

The Devils doubled up Lehman with a 6-3 edge in shots, while Lehman attempted the lone corner kick of the first half.

After an FDU foul, Daisy Gomez took a pass from Melanie Siranaula off a free kick for the lone goal of the game. The Lightning only attempted three more shots the remainder of the game, as the Devils pressed on for the tying goal. Nieto and Pita had shots saved midway through the stanza, while senior Carly Bresney attempted a chance that sailed high.

With time winding down, sophomore Madeline Finnegan and freshman Carlie Mullins had shots that did not get on target. With just 42 seconds remaining, sophomore Erica Martins ripped a shot that just went wide.

Paulino tallied three saves in the setback, as Nieto and Pita each attempted four shots.
