After senior Frances Maggio recorded a goal with 24:54 left in the opening half, classmate Laura Cannillo corralled a wild draw and deposited a shot into the back of the net 16 ticks later for a 3-0 lead, forcing Hamline into their first timeout. FDU tacked on four more before game was 12 minutes old, getting additional goals from juniors Samantha Holleritter and Cassidy Vastano, and seniors Noelle Shirey and Manganella.

Reasoner and Manganella added their second goals of the game midway through the frame before Dana Almquist of the Pipers ended the shutout with 8:02 left.
