Reasoner Sets Caused Turnover Record in Win Over Manhattanville

MADISON, N.J. (April 26, 2017) - Senior Brienna Reasoner became the women's lacrosse program leader in caused turnovers as the team topped Manhattanville 15-4 on Wednesday evening.

The Devils move to 13-3, 6-0 in the MAC Freedom, while Manhattanville drops to 10-5, 4-2 in conference.

Reasoner entered the game with 137 caused turnovers, tied with Lindsey Specht for the most all time, and broke the record just 2:30 into the contest. The Valiants Carly Weiss scored with 20:44 remaining in the opening half, but the Devils responded with a pair of goals 1:01 apart. Senior Frances Maggio and Reasoner scored for FDU, with the Reasonder tally getting an assist from senior Noelle Shirey.

The Vailants scored with just under 16 minutes left, but sophomore Kathleen Petrucelli scored two minutes later to kick- start an 11-0 run by FDU to bridge the first and second halves. Juniors Samantha Holleritter, Cassidy Vastano, Shirey, sophomore Caitlyn Damon, and senior Joelle Manganella all had first half goals for the Devils. Vastano and Shirey scored a mere 12 seconds apart.

Reasoner added her second tally of the game just 1:35 into the second stanza, while Shirey added her second of the contest six minutes later. Senior Laura Cannillo and Shirey completed the scoring with markers late in the second half. Manhattanville scored their final goal with a mere 14 seconds left, but the Devils had the game well in control.

Sophomore Megan Nemeth made several big second half saves as Manhattaville attempted to get back in the game, finishing with nine saves. Shirey finished with three goals and three as well three caused turnovers and three draw controls. Sophomore Caroline Pape caused four turnovers and scooped up five ground balls. 

FDU will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home tilt against Wilkes.
