Women's Lacrosse Honors U.S. Military in Conference Win

MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team rolled past Delaware Valley, 17-2, as both teams joined together by playing in honor of the United States military members on Wednesday at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Devils improved to 11-3 and 4-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom as the Aggies dropped to 7-4 and 1-3 in the MAC Freedom.

FDU-Florham outshot Delaware Valley, 31-5, and earned 24 ground balls to the Aggies' 10.
The Devils piled on 15 goals in the first half to grab a lead the Aggies couldn't recover from.

Seniors Noelle Shirey, Joelle Manganella, Frances Maggio and sophomore Cassidy Vastano led the way with three goals each. Junior Samantha Holleritter added two while senior Brienna Reasoner, Brittni Calleo and Laura Cannillo contributed one each.

Shirey worked throughout, adding three ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls as Reasoner recorded an assist, picked up three ground balls, caused three turnovers and grabbed six draw controls.

FDU-Florham used a free position shot just thirty seconds into the game to record their first goal at the stick of Manganella. Vastano followed with another free position goal minutes later.

Just about five minutes into the game, the Devils demonstrated beautiful team chemistry as Reasoner caused a turnover, picked up the ground ball and found Calleo crashing the net to earn the team's third goal of the game.

It was smooth sailing from there as FDU-Florham only let up two goals to enjoy the dominant victory.

Up next, the Devils travel to Dallas, Pa. to take on Misericordia University on Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. in conference play.
