Men's Lacrosse Rallies in 12-8 Conference Win Over Del Val

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team overcame a 4-0 deficit to come back and defeat Delaware Valley, 12-8, in a big Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom match up.

The Devils are now 6-7 and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom as the Aggies dropped to 6-5 and 2-2 in the conference.

The freshman duo of Alec Orazietti and John Belanger led the way with nine combined goals.

Delaware Valley put a 4-0 first quarter, but FDU-Florham regrouped and scored the first goal of the second quarter off the stick of sophomore Michael Warg three minutes in.

The Devils closed in as Orazietti fired one into the net off a Belanger feed before junior David Stewart notched a goal on an assist from senior Dalton Rimmer to make it 4-3 in favor of the Aggies.

Delaware Valley found a way two score twice more before the half to leave it with a 6-3 lead.

Orazietti kicked off the third quarter by driving in three straight goals to tie the game as Belanger netted one off a Warg feed to give the Devils the lead for the first time in the game with 6:36 remaining in the quarter.

The Aggies tied it up once more but a fourth quarter goal from Stewart put FDU-Florham up for good as Orazietti added one more and Belanger scored three insurance goals.

Senior Dan Decker made a difference with five caused turnovers and eight ground balls as sophomore Michael Adragna picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers.

In net, sophomore Tom Tornetto made nine saves to earn the victory.

The Devils return home next for senior day against Misericordia University on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. at Robert T. Shields Field.
