EWING, N.J. – The FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-4 decision to The College of New Jersey on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Devils are now 1-1 on the season while the No. 5 ranked Lions improved to 2-0.
The Lions struck first at the stick of Kasey Donoghue, but senior midfielder
Frances Maggio answered back, firing in an unassisted shot minutes later to even things at one each.
The Devils struggled to get an offense going and failed to stop an 8-0 run from TCNJ led by three goals from Kathleen Jaeger and two more from Donoghue.
It was senior
Brienna Reasoner who fought back though, taking advantage of a man-up opportunity with a goal 9:51 into the second.
The Lions were able to score twice more but Reasoner and senior
Joelle Manganella scored a goal each to cap off the game. Maggio recorded an assists on Manganella's point that was recorded with just two seconds left on the clock.
In net sophomore
Megan Nemeth had a strong showing, making 13 stops while facing 34 shots and picking up four ground balls. Lions' goalie Miranda Chrone needed just two saves to earn the win.
Up next, FDU-Florham travels to Patchogue, N.Y. to take on St. Joseph's College on Wednesday, March 8 at 4 p.m.
