AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 13, 2017) - A seven-run third inning lifted RIT to an 18-4 victory over the FDU baseball team on Monday.
The game evened both teams mark at 2-2 on the season.
RIT scored a run in the first on a solo home run, and then added seven in the third to grab an 8-0 lead after three innings. FDU battled back with a three in the fourth on a home run by
Diego Espinosa. The lead was cut in half thanks to sacrifice fly by
Christopher Franco, but that would be all the scoring for the Devils.
The Engineers tacked on 10 runs in the fifth and sixth frames, but
Walter Pennett was able to escape the seventh inning without allowing any additional runs
Josh DellaPietro was a perfect 2-for-2 with a walk and two doubles at plate, while Franco, Espinosa and
Reynaldo Diaz each collected hits.
Logan Brown was tagged with the loss, giving up eight runs in three innings while fanning three.
The Devils will take on Farmingdale State in a doubleheader Wednesday, beginning at 2 p.m.
