WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 12, 2017) - Junior Kenny Carrier fired a complete game to lead the FDU baseball team to a 5-4 win over Cairn Saturday.

The Devils and Highlanders were supposed to play a double-header, but the second game was called due to rain after three innings due to rain.

FDU started the scoring in the first, as Reynaldo Diaz and Diego Espinosa delivered RBI's, with Espinosa delivering a sacrifice fly. Cairn answered back with two runs on three hits in their first at-bat, but Carrier escaped further damage with an inning ending double play. The Devils doubled their advantage in the second, as Joseph Bonaccurso had the big hit,a double down the left field line.

Carrier settled down, allowing one hit over the next three innings. The Highlanders evened the score in the bottom of the fifth, totaling four hits in the frame. After Ben Thompson hit a one-out triple to left center, Dylan DiPolvere delivered what turned out to be the game-winning RBI single up the middle. Staked with a 5-4 lead in the final frame, Carrier retired the side in order for his first win of the year.

The junior struck out five while going the distance, while Bonaccurso had three of the teams eight hits on the afternoon.

FDU will take on RIT tomorrow at 9:45 a.m.
