MADISON, N.J. (November 3, 2017) - The FDU football team was topped 51-33 by Albright on Friday evening.
The Devils fall to 2-7, 1-7 in the Middle Atlantic Conference, while Albright is now 7-2, 6-2 in conference.
The Lions scored on their first possession, and then took a punt back for another score the next time they touched the ball. After the Devils went three and out, Albright kicked a field goal to build a 17-0 lead after the first frame.
After the Lions converted a 22 yard field goal to open the second quarter, the Devils got on the board on their first attempt in the second. Junior
Mike Panzarino hooked up with senior
Malik Pressley for a three-yard score cutting the lead to 20-7.
The Lions tacked on an additional score at the end of the half, heading into the half with a 27-7 lead. Albright began the third quarter with two consecutive scores, opening up a 41-7 edge.
Sophomore
Tommy Galante threw his first career touchdown in the third, finding a wide open Panzarino for a 35-yard strike. The teams traded touchdowns on the next two drives, as Panzarino found Pressley for 15 yards and his second score of the night.
After the Devils forced a punt in the beginning of the fourth, Panzarino rushed for a touchdown this time, converting from three yards out. Albright was held to a field goal on the next drive, Panzarino threw his third touchdown of the day, finding Pressley for a 40-yard score. That would cap off the scoring, as the Devils fell by the 18 point margin.
Panzarino had himself a day, going 6-for-7 in the air with 160 yards and three touchdowns, rushing for 54 yards and a score on 17 carries, and finally hauling in six passes for 104 yards and a TD. Galante threw for 221 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Mihajlo Simakoski had 10 tackles while
Michael Ferrante had eight.
The Devils conclude their season with a Saturday afternoon home game against Misericordia at 1 p.m.
