Men's Basketball Begins Season Wednesday Night

MADISON, N.J. (November 14, 2017) - The FDU men's basketball team opens the 2017-18 season with a showdown against Division I Fairleigh Dickinson-Metro Campus Wednesday.

GAME INFO
The Devils will head to Teaneck, N.J. the battle Knights at 7 p.m. at the Rothman Center.

WHAT'S IN A NAME
The matchup between the two Fairleigh Dickinson campuses is one, if not the only, game between two schools with the same name.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the fourth consecutive, and fifth all-time meeting between the teams. The Division I Knights have won all four previous meetings.

2016-17 REWIND
The Devils finished last season with an 8-17 record, and 5-9 in conference. The team ended the season with consecutive wins over Manhattanville and King's (Pa.).

PRESEASON OUTLOOK
FDU selected to finish sixth in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom this season.Misericordia earned all seven first place votes, while Eastern, DeSales and Delaware Valley rounded out the top-four.

ONE MORE TIME
Seniors Ryan Rigby, Veon Lassiter, Alex Hanssen and Steve Herdman return for one final season in Madison. Lassiter averaged 7.1 points per game last season in 17 games before missing the final eight, while Herdman had 7.5 ppg in 18 games while making 17 starts.

FROM DOWNTOWN
The Devils return the top-four three point threats from last season, including sophomore Rajaan Dixon. Dixon, who canned 26 treys last season, scored in double figures in each of his final four games last season, including a season-high 19 in the finale against King's (Pa.).

DOWN LOW
Despite losing All-Conference performer Donte Ali, the Devils bring back junior Darren Davy, who was second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game while also chipping in 9.8 points per game.

SCORING LEADER
Junior Anthony Mitchell led the Devils with 12.7 points per game and 3.4 assists per game, while also canning 35 treys. Also returning in the backcourt is classmate Derek Leohner, who was named MAC Freedom Player of the Week last January after scoring 24 and 19 points respectively against Wilkes and Misericordia.
