MADISON, N.J. (October 7, 2017) - The FDU men's tennis team earned a 5-4 win over Farmingdale before topping Marywood 8-1 Saturday.
The Devils are a perfect 3-0 on the season, and will host Lycoming tomorrow at 2 p.m.
In the Farmingdale match, the doubles team of
Chris Fiorenza and
Tyler Schacher trailed 5-1 and 7-3, before storming back with six consecutive games to win 9-7. That proved to be the difference at the doubles, as the Devils were able to come away with at least one victory.
In singles action, Fiorenza fell behind 5-1 before coming all the back, winning the frame 7-6. He picked up a 7-4 tiebreaker victory in that opening to help push to a strong second set win as well.
Kevin Weller and
Chris Ly picked up wins at No. 2 and 3 singles, while
Steven Serras had a key win at sixth singles.
The Devils dominated Marywood, winning first and third doubles by identical 8-0 scores. Senior
Max Moscowitz dropped just one set against the Pacers, while Weller didn't drop any. Fiorenza was the lone Devils player to win four matches on the day.
