MADISON, N.J. (October 31, 2017) - The FDU men's soccer team will face Eastern in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Semifinals on Tuesday.
MATCH INFO
The No. 4 seeded Devils head to St. David's, Pa. for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against the No. 1 seeded Eagles.
DEVILS REPORT
The team comes in with a 3-12-1 record, but a 3-3-1 mark in the MAC Freedom. After starting the season 0-9, the Devils went 3-3-1 down the stretch, picking up consecutive wins over Wilkes and Delaware Valley to open conference.
TOURNAMENT INFO
No. 2 King's will square off with No. 3 DeSales at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal match. The two winners will meet at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday at a time to be determined.
LAST TIME OUT
The Devils were tripped up by King's 4-1 last Saturday. Freshman Brandon McGregor scored the lone goal, the first of his collegiate career. Sophomore Liam Ryan made two stops, while senior JT Bretschneider made one.
LAST MEETING VS. EASTERN
Eastern came out with a 1-0 victory on October 14, scoring in the 20th minute and holding on for the one goal victory. Junior
Justin Barbosa and freshman Ricky La Stella had two shots in the setback.
ALL-CONFERENCE
La Stella was the lone Devils player to gain an All-MAC Freedom selection. The rookie was selected to the First Team after scoring six goals this season, which was tops on the team. He tallied a hat trick in the Devils 7-0 win over Delaware Valley earlier this year.
SCOUTING EASTERN
The Eagles are currently 12-4-1, 5-2-0 in the MAC Freedom, and had six players named All-Conference. Junior Colin Furlong was selected as the MAC Freedonm Offensive Player of the Year, totaling 11 assists on the year.
