Women's Soccer Tops King's 3-1 in Regular Season Finale

MADISON, N.J. (October 28, 2017) - The FDU women's soccer closed out its regular season with a 3-1 win over King's Saturday.

The Devils finished the regular season with a 12-6 mark and a 4-3-0 mark in the MAC Freedom, will now await their fate in the ECAC Tournament which will be announced Monday, November 6.

Senior Kristina Ragolia had the Devils best chance early on, rifling a shot that the King's goalie punched up off crossbar. The Monarchs had a pair of chances in the 21st and 23rd minutes, but freshman Ashley Paulino was there for the saves.

The Devils broke through in the 30th minute, as a shot by freshman Nathalia Gallo rang off the crossbar. Classmate Amanda Croce was able to head the rebound home to give the Devils the 1-0 lead.

Just 3:14 later, the lead doubled to 2-0. Croce was able to poke the ball out of a scrum, right to the feet of sophomore Lindsey Scarmozzino. Scarmozzino dished off to freshman Erica Martins fired a shot upper corner and in, giving the Devils a 2-0 lead.

King's cut the lead in half in the 35th minute, converting a penalty kick. The Devils went into halftime with the 2-1 lead, outshooting King's 12-7.

As King's pressed for an equalizer, it was the Devils who were able to add the insurance goal. After a foul in the box, senior Missy Quinn stepped up to line and drilled the penalty kick, putting the Devils up 3-1.

FDU had one more golden chance to add to the lead, as freshman Tatiana Nieto made a back-heel pass to classmate Madeline Finnegan, but her point-blank shot was stopped. The Devils were able to hold off the Monarchs from then on, winning 3-1.

Paulino made seven saves, while Gallo and Nieto combined for 13 shot attempts.

Prior to the game, the Devils honored Ragolia, Quinn and Colleen Burke as part of a Senior Day Ceremony.
