MADISON, N.J. (October 24, 2017) - The FDU women's soccer team topped Drew 2-0 in "The Battle of Madison Ave." Tuesday evening.
The Devils move to 11-6 while Drew drops to 6-10-1.
Reigning MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Ashley Paulino made a stop 4:53 into the game, as the host Rangers had three of the first four shots of the game. In the 18th minute, freshman
Erica Martins blasted a shot that went through the keeper's hands and in to the goal, giving the Devils a 1-0 edge.
Paulino only had to make one more save the rest of the half, as the Devils and Rangers each recorded six total shots.
Drew once again had the first three chances not reach the goalie, and senior
Kristina Ragolia's 53rd minute shot was stopped by the Drew keeper. The Rangers had a pair of headers midway through the frame that were blocked by the defnese.
The Devils doubled their lead in the 69th minute, as freshman Nathalia Gallo ripped a shot from 30 yards out, putting the visitors up 2-0. That was all the team needed, as Drew only attempted one shot on goal over the final 21 minutes.
Paulino made three saves in the win, while Ragolia, Gallo and freshman
Amanda Croce each had two shots.
The Devils close out the regular season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home contest against King's.
