ST. DAVIDS, Pa. (October 14, 2017) - The FDU men's soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped as they were topped by Eastern 1-0 Saturday.
The Devils are now 2-11 on the, dropping to 2-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. The Eagles moved to 10-3, 3-1 in the MAC Freedom.
Junior
Justin Barbosa had his two shot attempts saved, but Eastern made their first count in the 20th. Jake Cahill sent a pass in that Jacob Myers finished at the near post for his fifth tally of the year. For the next 25 minutes of the first half, only three more shots were attempted by both sides, as Eastern went into half with a 1-0 lead.
Eastern had a chance to double the lead in the 49th minute, but a shot rang off the crossbar. The Devils pressed for the tying goal but a shot by senior
Brian Chiarello went wide in the 65th minute. Freshman
Ricky La Stella had the Devils last chance, shot in the 74th minute which was stopped by the Eastern goalie. Eastern had three chances to extend their, but all three header attempts narrowly missed.
Barbosa and La Stella each had two shots in the setback, while senior
JT Bretschneider made one save.
The Devils close out their road schedule with a Tuesday night showdown against Manhattanville at 7 p.m.
