UNION, NJ – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's soccer team played a hard-fought game against Kean University but suffered a 1-0 loss in non-conference action at Kean Alumni Stadium on Wednesday Sept. 7.
The Devils fell to 1-1-2 on the season as Kean improved to 1-2-0.
Senior goalie
Annie George played a key role in keeping the Devils within reach until the end, making nine saves in the loss.
The Cougars struck early as Jordyn Bronsky shot a rocket into the lower right corner of the Devils' net to seal the win just 25 minutes into the first half.
While the strong offensive effort of seniors
Kristen Fila,
Brittni Calleo and freshman Lindsay Scarmozzino yielded scoring opportunities for the Devils, nothing could break through Kean's solid defensive effort.
The Cougars outshot the Devils, 21-3, in the night thanks to a dominating attack from Emily Jurcsek, Kendall Machak and Mallory Noordeloos but George's lockdown goal tending prevented a further deficit.
FDU-Florham will return to Madison, N.J. to take on William Paterson University on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Robert T. Shields Field.
