Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Devils fall, 1-0, to Pioneers

MADISON, NJ – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's soccer team fought a tough match against William Paterson but dropped a 1-0 game on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Robert T. Shields Field.

The defeat dropped the Devils to 1-2-2 on the season as the Pioneers were lifted to 3-0-1.

The Devils outplayed the Pioneers for a majority of the game but couldn't seem to connect of any scoring opportunities.

Forwward Kristina Ragolia and midfielder Lindsey Scarmozzino combined for five shots each in brave offensive efforts.

The Devils held the Pioneers at bay through a scoreless first half.

Just five minutes into the second half though, the Pioneers threatened the Devils with a solid shot that hit the left post. Although unsuccessful, the play gave the Pioneers the offensive momentum.

At 62:50, William Patterson broke through to seal the 1-0 win. Senior Julia Bos took a shot that was saved by Devils' goalie Annie George and freshman forward Carla LaRocca was able to follow it up from point-blank range to score the game-winning goal.

George made four saves in the loss for the Devils as Pioneers' goalie Angela Sandelli grabbed five.

FDU-Florham stays local next week to play the College of Saint Elizabeth on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. in Morristown, NJ.
