Devils shutout Eagles, 10-0

MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's soccer team commanded the entire 80 minutes of play against neighboring College of Saint Elizabeth in a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The victory evened up FDU-Florham's record at 2-2-2 on the season as the Eagles fell to 0-4.

Devils senior midfielder Brittni Calleo and sophomore midfielder Danielle Matos scored two goals apiece as sophomore forward Kate MacMillan added a goal and two assists in the victory.

It took the Devils just 11 minutes to strike first as Calleo's right side shot from 15-yards out proved to be the difference. Calleo followed that up about 20 minutes later, scoring off a breakaway from midfield to give FDU-Florham a 2-0 lead.

Juniors Missy Quinn and Justine Fernandez added a goal each off assists from freshman midfielder Lindsey Scarmozzino and senior midfielder Ashley Granato, respectively to close out the half at 4-0.

The Devils came out hard once again as senior forward Gabby Diaco notched a goal just 1:33 into the half. Less than two minutes, Matos earned her first point of the game to give FDU-Florham a comfortable 6-0 lead early in the second.

It was Matos again who scored in the 65th minute of the game off a cross from freshman defender Nicolette Roberts. Just about a minute later junior forward Colleen Burke scored on a MacMillan assist. MacMillan then grabbed a goal for herself, scoring off her own rebound at 72:10.

The Devils finished off their dominant campaign over the Eagles with a header from senior forward Kristen Fila to complete a 10-0 shutout. FDU-Florham outshot the Eagles, 66-1, as senior goalie Annie George picked up the shutout without needing to make a save.

Eagles' goalie Marie Goodman made 24 saves in the loss.

Next up the Devils return home to Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. on Robert T. Shields Field.
