Brown Makes History as Devils Lock Up Postseason Home Game

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Senior forward Shalette Brown became the first Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's basketball player to amass 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds as the Devils topped Delaware Valley University 80-56 on Saturday and locked up the No. 2 seed in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament.

For the fourth straight season, the Devils (19-6, 11-3 MAC Freedom) will host a postseason game and for the third-straight time it will be Delaware Valley in the semifinal matchup.

The Devils will host the Aggies (13-12, 9-5 MAC Freedom) again this Wednesday, February 24 at 7 p.m., while fourth-seed Manhattanville College (18-7, 9-5 MAC Freedom) will travel to top-seeded DeSales University (19-6, 12-2 MAC Freedom) in the other semifinal on Wednesday.

In Saturday's victory, senior forward Shalette Brown wrapped up one of the greatest regular seasons in FDU-Florham history by tallying her 21st double-double, which is tops in the country. On the campaign, Brown averaged 18.2 pts and 15.2 rebounds per contest, while becoming the school's all-time leading rebounder in just three seasons with the team. The senior forward capped her final regular season with a monster effort, totaling 28 points and 22 rebounds on the afternoon.

Brown wasn't the only Devil to thrive on Saturday as junior guard Alyssa McDonough and her second-year backcourt mate Danielle Leguillou each poured in 20 points. McDonough tallied her second double-double of the campaign by nabbing 10 rebounds in the win.

The Devils were in control from the outset and took control with an 11-2 run over the final five minutes of the first quarter to carry 22-10 lead after one.

A stifling Devils' defense limited the host Aggies to just 9-of-30 (30%) shooting in the first half and FDU-Florham held a commanding 40-21 lead at the break.

The Devils remained in control for the duration of the second half and outscored the Aggies in both the third and fourth frames, while stretching the lead to as large as 30 points, 80-50, with 1:24 to go.

Senior guard Eireann Anastasi led the Aggies with 18 points and 10 boards in the loss.

The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will advance to the MAC Freedom Tournament Championship Game on Saturday at the highest-seeded team's site.
