Men's Basketball Falls 79-62 in Season Finale

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Despite four members of the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham men's basketball team scoring in double-figures, the Devils were defeated by the Delaware University Aggies 79-62 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the season.

Senior guard Charlie Slack was the Devils' (4-21, 2-12 MAC Freedom) top scorer in the game, tying his career-high with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, including four three-point makes against the Aggies (18-7, 9-5 MAC Freedom).

To go along with Slack's perimeter scoring, the Devils also turned to the painted area, where Donte Ali and Alex Hanssen each totaled 12 points. Ali corralled eight boards and dished out five assists to add his offensive performance, while Hanssen shot 5-for-6 from the field and brought down eight rebounds.

Freshman guard Anthony Mitchell was the fourth player to score in double digits for FDU-Florham as he tallied 10 points. Sophomore forward Veon Lassiter added eight points and eight rebounds.

After a quick 6-0 run to start the game for the Aggies, the Devils tied the game up following back-to-back three-point shots from Mitchell and Slack.

The Devils began to fall behind, but after seeing the lead grow to nine, they responded with a 12-0 run that was capped off by a Lassiter three-pointer to grab their first lead of the game.

For much of the game, FDU-Florham struggled to contain the two senior forwards for the Aggies, Chris Moran and Barry Brockington, who combined for 23 of the team's 36 first half points. Moran finished with a game-high 22 points, while Brockington added 19.

With seconds remaining in the opening stanza, Slack buried a long-range jumper to knot the game up at 34-34, but a Tyliek Kimbrough shot at the buzzer gave the Aggies the two-point advantage.

About a quarter of the way through the second half, Delaware Valley went on an 11-2 run to begin to separate from the Devils. The Aggies had a lot of success in the second half due to a strong team performance on the offensive end. As a team, they shot over 50 percent in the half.

FDU-Florham was able to trim the deficit to seven, 54-47, but the Aggies countered with three-consecutive three-point makes, sparking another big run.

The Aggies had an answer for just about every shot made by the Devils in the final minutes of play and Delaware Valley went on to capture the 79-62 conference victory.
