Orlando scores game-winner in Devils' Double-Overtime win

The Devils defeat Drew, 1-0, in the Battle of Madison Ave

MADISON,  N.J. --  With 1:11 left in double-overtime, FDU-Florham women's soccer senior defender Missy Orlando headed in the game-winning goal off a corner kick from senior midfielder Brittni Calleo to push the Devils over Drew University, 1-0, in the Battle of Madison Ave on Tuesday night at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Devils and Rangers were scorless through 108 minutes with Drew outshooting FDU-Florham 20-15, until Orlando's dramatic heroics put the home team on top.

FDU-Florham improves to 9-7-3 with the win as Drew falls to 6-9-1 on the season.

Senior goalie Annie George made eight saves in the shutout while senior defender Ashley Granato managed to clear the ball off the line to keep the score even with 33 minutes to go in regulation time. Granato also led an offensive charge from the back, leading the Devils with three shots.

With both teams battling to strike first, senior forward Kristina Ragolia blasted a shot that was thwarted by a diving save from Drew goalie Andee Higgins in second half.

Calleo commanded the midfield while junior midfielder Missy Quinn made several offensive attempts in the victory.

Prior to the game, the Devils honored their six seniors of Calleo, George, Orlando, Granato, Kristin Fila and Gabby Diaco.
