Women’s Soccer Ties King’s 1-1

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 29, 2016) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team drew with King's College 1-1 Saturday.

With the tie, the Devils earned the No. 4 seed in next week's Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Tournament and will face No. 1 seed Misericordia. FDU moved to 9-7-4, 3-3-1 in the MAC Freedom.

The first goal of the evening came 16:42 in the game, as Annie Granato blasted a shot from 30 yards out past the King's keeper into the upper left corner of the net. The Monarchs had three consecutive corner kicks in the 33rd and 34th minutes, but were unable to capitalize.

With time winding down in the half, Carly Bresney and Britni Calleo fired shots that were saved by King's keeper Jess Schenfeld, keeping the score 1-0 heading into the break. FDU keeper Annie George was sent off in the 63rd minute for taking down a player in the box, but the ensuing PK attempt went wide.

Playing man down the rest of the game, the hosts finally found an equalizer with 10:10 left, as Savannah Tucker found the ball in a scrum and beat the goalie to force extra time. King's had three chances in the first overtime period, but FDU had a chance in the second frame, but Calleo had an attempt sail wide. In the 109th minute, Bryanna Webber made back to back saves to preserve the tie.

Webber made four key saves in reserve to force the tie, while Calleo had two of her three shot attempts go on goal.
