George breaks program All-Time Career Wins record in Devils' 2-1 victory

Senior goalie Annie George recorded her 35th win to take the top spot in the record book

MADISON, N.J. -- Senior goalie Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) made five saves in the Devil's 2-1 conference victory over Manhattanville College to break the program's All-Time Career Wins record with 35, on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Devils are now 8-6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom.

Senior midfielder Brittni Calleo scored both of the Devils' goals to earn the victory.

Just 9:06 into the contest, senior forward Kristina Ragolia sent a perfect through ball past the Manhattanville defense to the feet of Calleo who beat out the opposing goalie from point-blank range.

Calleo followed that up with another tally at 14:01 when her corner kick was placed perfectly into the right side of the Valiants' net.

Manhattanville remained persistent though, outshooting the Devils, 12-7, in the night. The Valiants closed the gap at 33:02 when Joanna Karp capitalized on a breakaway and blasted one into the left corner of the FDU-Florham goal.

The fierce Devils defense held on though and thanks to five saves from George, FDU-Florham walked away with the crucial conference win.

Before the game, FDU-Florham and Manhattanville came together at center field to pay tribute to Valiants men's lacrosse player Robby Schartner who was tragically killed last week. A jersey with his No. 3 hung in the stands for the remainder of the game.

Up next, the Devils travel to Dallas, Pa. to face conference leader Misericordia University (11-3, 4-0 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.
