MADISON, N.J. -- With just 10 minutes left in regulation time, freshman forward
Lindsey Scarmozzino headed the ball into the net off a cross from senior midfielder
Brittni Calleo to push the Devils past conference foe Eastern University, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.
The Devils improved to 7-6-3 on the season and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom in the victory.
The contest was evenly matched as the Devils had 12 shots with four on goal to Eastern's 11 shots and three on target.Â
Senior forward
Kristina Ragolia netted the first goal of the game from the top of the box off a pass from freshman midfielder
Nicolette Roberts to put the Devils ahead, 1-0, at the half.
The Eagles were persistent, however, and Emily Cole was able to beat out a Devils defender and blast a shot into the rock pocket of the net to tie the match up at one each.
With the clock winding down to the final 10 minutes of regulation time, Scarmozzino's header goal proved to be enough to earn the Devils the 2-1 win.
Senior goalie
Annie George made two saves in the victory.
Up next, FDU-Florham takes on Manhattanville College on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Robert T. Shields Field.
