NEWARK, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team capped their 2015 regular season with a 5-4 defeat to Rutgers University- Newark on Monday night at the Golden Dome Tennis Courts.
The Devils (6-9) battled the Scarlet Raiders (7-4) to the very end but Rutgers-Newark prevailed by claiming fourth, fifth and sixth singles to take the win.
Eison DeGuzman defeated FDU-Florham's
Ryan O'Keefe (Honesdale, Pa.) in a thrilling, second-set tiebreaker to win sixth singles, which sealed the contest.
Senior
Mitch Gettis (Reading, Pa.) continued his winning ways by topping
Benjamin Lioue 6-0, 6-2 in first singles before
Max Moscowitz (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win against
Youssef Rizk in second singles.
Moscowitz and
Chris Ly (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned an 8-1 victory in first double but Rutgers-Newark won the next two.
Next up for the Devils is the semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament against King's College. First serve set for 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, April 28 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
