GLENSIDE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team moved to 2-0 in Freedom Conference play Thursday afternoon with a 5-4 win over the Arcadia University Knights in Glenside, Pa.
The Devils (3-5, 2-0 Freedom) opened up singles play with two victories. Mitch Gettis (Reading, Pa.) took the first match of the afternoon by defeating Vincent Voulo 6-1, 6-3. In the next match, Max Moscowitz (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) lost the first set to Alex Colton 3-6. However, he came back to win the next two sets, 6-0, 6-1.
Steven Serras (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the last FDU-Florham singles player to notch a victory after he defeated Ricardo Margolles in three sets.
To kick off the doubles matches, Chris Ly (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Moscowitz took down Voulo and Simon Mohr 8-1. The Devils were victorious in their next match as Gettis and Serras defeated Colton and Chuck Poklikuha 8-4. Despite losing the last doubles match of the afternoon, the Devils were still able to ward of the Knights for the 5-4 victory.
FDU-Florham will travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on Wednesday, April 8, for its next Freedom Conference match against King's College at 3 p.m.
