Full ResultsMADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team is postseason-bound following their 8-1 victory over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils (5-8, 3-2 Freedom) clinch a spot in the Freedom Conference Tournament, which begins on Tuesday, April 28.
Senior
Mitch Gettis (Reading, Pa.), who recently earned career win number 50, teamed up with
Steven Serras (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to top Eastern's
Kyle Berner and
Christian Torres 8-2 in second doubles. Gettis also coasted to a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory over Berner in first singles.
The Devils swept doubles play, as
Chris Ly (Staten Island, N.Y.) and
Max Moscowitz (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) won first doubles 8-1 and
Jason Dubinsky (Melville, N.Y.) paired with
Dylan Meyler (Somerdale, N.J.) to claim third doubles 8-3.
In singles play, Moscowitz followed Gettis with a 6-0, 6-0 win in second singles before Ly, Serras and
Ryan O'Keefe (Honesdale, Pa.) topped their opponents in fourth, fifth and sixth singles, respectively, to secure the victory.
Next up for the Devils is a non-conference match at Rutgers-Newark this Monday, April 20 at 4 p.m.
