MADISON, N.J. – Two first-half goals gave the FDU-Florham women's soccer team all the offense it needed to take down Brooklyn College on Thursday night at Robert T. Shields Field.
Kristina Ragolia and
Marissa Salava supplied the firepower for the Devils (7-5), who outshot the Bulldogs (3-7-1) 23-3 in the contest.
Ragolia buried the game's first goal just over nine minutes into action. The sophomore forward took a close-range pass from
Brittni Calleo and delivered a long-range goal, scoring from 20-yards out for what proved to be the game-winning strike. Ragolia's goal, her second of the season, was placed perfectly into the upper left corner, leaving Brooklyn goalkeeper
Rebecca Harmata helpless as she watched it swish the net.
FDU-Florham kept the ball in Brooklyn's half of the field for the majority of the game and in the 22
nd minute,
Marissa Salava netted the team's second goal after she dribbled down the right side and fired past a charging Harmata. Salava's goal was her team-leading seventh on the campaign.
Harmata was under duress for most of the contest and did well to hold the Devils to the two scores. The Brooklyn goalkeeper finished with eight saves in the loss.
At the other end of the field, the Devils backline prevented the Bulldogs from earning a single corner kick and ensured all three shot attempts were offline.
The Devils return to MAC Freedom action when they travel to Center Valley, Pa. to take on DeSales University this Saturday, October 10 at 3 p.m.
