Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- The FDU-Florham volleyball team dropped their opening match of the day 3-0 to host Muhlenberg College but came back strong in their second contest and swept Rutgers-Camden 3-0 to earn a split at the Buttermaker Tournament on Friday.
Match One:The Mules (4-1) set the tone early with seven-straight points to open the first set and never looked back. The Devils were unable to take a set, falling 15-25, 18-25, and 14-25 in the match. Freshman
Codi Inloes-Williams (Palmer Lake, Colo./Liberty) totaled 21 assists and three digs, while fellow freshman
Melissa Gaffney (League City, Texas/Clear Creek) led the Devils (4-4) with six kills in the loss. The Mules posted 40 kills in the match, led by
Katherine Boll, who had nine put aways on the day.
Match Two:In their second match of the day,
FDU-Florham picked up their fourth win of the season by knocking off the Rutgers-Camden Raptors 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 in straight sets. Gaffney had it working in this one and totaled 12 kills on 24 total attacks, while adding seven digs to the ledger. Inloes-Williams handed out 20 assists and freshman
Natalie Knudsen (Chester, N.J./Mendham) had a great match with six kills and four service aces.
Next up for the Devils:FDU-Florham returns home to host a tri-match on Wednesday, September 10th. The match kicks off at 4:30 p.m. against Maritime College and concludes at 8:30 p.m. against Mount St. Mary College.
