Women's Soccer Strikes for Five Goals in Win Over Warriors

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team poured on the goals in a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon over Lycoming University at Winton Hill Field.

Led by sophomore midfielder Brittni Calleo's (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) two goals, the Devils (3-4-1) captured their first win since September 5th.  The first goal came when Calleo netted the ball off a cross from freshman forward Kristina Ragolia (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) in the 22nd minute to give the Devils a 1-0 lead over the Warriors (2-8).

The Devils received a lot of help from their young talented players including sophomore Kristen Fila who recorded her first goal of the season after booting the ball to the back of the net in the 33rd minute to give her team a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Just when things were starting to pull away from the Warriors, Jordan Lazarich found the back of the net, giving Lycoming their only goal of the afternoon. The Devils responded quickly by putting up three second half goals, the first by sophomore Missy Quinn (Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) in the 59th minute.

In the 84th minute, Calleo found herself on a fast break and buried the ball into the lower left corner for her second goal of the night. Three minutes later, freshman Colleen Burke (Edison, NJ/Edison) scored for the first time in her career with a shot to the left of the goalkeeper.

With the win, head coach Kirstin Giotta passed former coach Renee Montana as the school's all-time leader in wins and now has 81 in the midst of her ninth season at the helm for FDU-Florham.

The Devils offense put together a season-high five goals while outshooting the Warriors 15-7 in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Annie George did not record any saves while Lycoming goalie, Joelle Winey, sent away three shots for the Cougars.

Next up for the Devils:
The Devils will travel to Brooklyn to face off against Brooklyn College on Monday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m.
