MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham women's soccer team played William Paterson University to a 1-1 draw at a rain-soaked Robert T. Shields Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Devils (2-2-1) trailed 1-0 at the break but continued to press on and in the 82nd minute, freshman forward
Marissa Salava (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) netted the equalizer and game's final score.
Four minutes into the game, the Pioneers (1-1-3) took advantage of a backline miscue by the Devils to stake a 1-0 lead. William Paterson sophomore

Gina Cowdrick.Both teams struggled to gain traction as the rain poured on and off throughout the contest. In the 52nd minute, the Pioneers had a golden scoring chance but FDU-Florham goalkeeper
Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) made a highlight-reel save, diving to her right to preserve the one-goal deficit.
In the 82nd minute, Salava secured a loose ball in the box and promptly fired it past William Paterson goalkeeper
Kat Clint to even the game at one-goal aside. The game remained tied through the end of regulation and two overtime periods.
For the Pioneers, the tie is their third in five outings this season. The Devils were outshot 16-5 on the day but each team only mustered one scoring opportunity in extra time.
Salava's goal was the first of her collegiate career. FDU-Florham's defense did a stellar job in the game led by the aggressive play of sophomore
