MADISON, N.J. –Two late second half goals were the difference in the FDU-Florham women's soccer team's 2-0 loss to the Mount St. Mary College Knights on Wednesday night at Robert T. Shields Field.
The Knights (2-1) offense was on a relentless attack all night, keeping the Devils defense under constant pressure. However, the Devils (2-2) did a good job warding off the Knights for the first 75 minutes of the game.
It was in the 76
th minute when the Knights first broke through the defense and
Marissa Segreto drilled a ball to the back of net, which gave Mount St. Mary a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, the Knights were back in front of the net and
Destiny Ribadeneyra dribbled past the Devils defenders and buried another shot to make it a two-goal game.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) recorded four saves on the night for the Devils, while Knights goalkeeper
Mary Riley was untested due to the Devils offensive struggles. The Knights outshot the Devils 13-3 in the contest as FDU-Florham was unable to mount an attack.
Next up for the Devils:
FDU-Florham will welcome the William Paterson University Pioneers to Madison on Saturday, September 13th in a matchup scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Robert T. Shields Field.
