Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team was eliminated from the Freedom Conference tournament on Thursday afternoon, falling to top-seeded Arcadia University 11-8 at Easton Field.
Freshman attack
Joelle Manganella (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) flourished in the final game of her first season in Madison by netting four goals and adding five draw controls in the loss.
After falling behind 3-0, Manganella found the back of the net for her 40
th goal of the season and the Devils first of the afternoon. Less than two minutes later, freshman
Brienna Reasoner (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) found
Caitlyn McGinley (Mount Laurel, N.J./Camden Catholic), who promptly netted the Devils second goal of the contest. The two teams traded goals and FDU-Florham trailed the Knights 5-3 at the break.
The Knights notched the first goal of the second half before Manganella struck twice, which brought the Devils back within one at 6-5. Unfortunately, this was as close as the Devils would get, as Arcadia tallied three goals over the next four minutes to build their cushion to 9-5.
Trailing 11-6, junior
Courtney Rendinaro (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scored back-to-back goals but it was too little too late for FDU-Florham and they ultimately fell 11-8.
Rendinaro, the reigning Freedom Conference Offensive Player of the Year, finished with two goals, while freshman defender
Kelsey Ryan (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) caused four turnovers in defeat. The Devils (7-10, 4-2 Freedom) dropped the game despite outshooting the Knights 33-17 and dominating draw controls 15-6 in the contest. Rendinaro and Manganella finish the season tied for the team-lead with 43 goals apiece.
Arcadia's sophomore goalie Jordyn Dunacusky made 13 stops in the win, while the Knights featured a balanced offensive attack and had four different players total two goals.
