Rendinaro Breaks Assist Record As Devils Roll to 17-3 Victory

Box Score MADISON, N.J.—Junior midfielder Courtney Rendinaro (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) became the program's all-time assists leader as the FDU-Florham Devils cruised to a 17-3 victory over Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.

Rendinaro totaled four assists in the win, which gives her a total of 71 for her career and breaks Lindsey Parent's previous record of 68 helper. The junior midfielder also added four goals in the contest.

With the win, the Devils improve to 4-8 on the season and 1-1 in Freedom Conference play, while the Eagles drop to 4-6 and 1-1 in conference.

Eastern notched the first goal of the contest on a strike by freshman Anna Cherlebois, however, it was the last time they led. The Devils fired off five-straight scores and grabbed control of the contest. Five different Devils scored during the run bookended by freshman Noelle Shirey (Pine Beach, N.J./Toms River South) at 26:15 and junior Caitlyn McGinley (Mount Laurel, N.J./Camden Catholic), who notched her goal with 20:22 remaining in the first half.

After Eastern snapped the streak with a goal, the Devils proceeded to nothc four of the last five tallies of the half and entered intermission with an 8-3 lead.

The Devils blanked the Eagles in the second half, while adding nine goals to their own ledger. With 17 minutes left to play in regulation, FDU-Florham freshman Annie George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) scored the first goal of her collegiate career.

FDU-Florham outshot Eastern 33-14 in the game and played smothering defense, which resulted in 26 turnovers by the Eagles. Freshman Joelle Manganella (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) matched Rendinaro with four goals, while McGinley, Brienna Reasoner (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central), and Brianna Capobianco (Williston Park, N.Y./Kellenberg) all scored two goals in the win. McGinley and Reasoner also caused three turnovers in the victory.

Devils goalkeeper Grace Warburton (Lake Hopatcong, Jefferson) made six saves to improve her record to 3-7 on the season. Charlebois added four ground balls along with a goal in defeat.

FDU-Florham heads to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on Wilkes University this Wednesday April  9th at 4 p.m.
