Devils Unable to Slow Red Hawks

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to Montclair State University 16-3 on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

The loss drops the Devils to 3-6 overall, while the Red Hawks remain unbeaten at 9-0 on the campaign. FDU-Florham junior midfielder Courtney Rendinaro (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) netted all three of the Devils goals in the loss. Prior to the game, the junior was honored for scoring her 100th career goal last Friday, March 21st against Worcester State University.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Rendinaro answered with her first goal of the day, which came off of an assist by junior Dana Amorosi (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester Catholic). Unfortunately, Montclair State followed with seven-unanswered goals to claim a 9-1 lead.

With 35 seconds to play until halftime, Rendinaro struck again, this time off of a great pass by freshman Brittni Calleo (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional). FDU-Florham entered the break trailing the Red Hawks 9-2.

The second half was all Red Hawks, as Montclair scored less than five minutes into the game and proceeded to net the next four goals, which provided them with a 14-2 lead. With 15:02 to play, freshman Joelle Manganella (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) found Rendinaro cutting to the net, which completed the hat trick for the junior.

Rendinaro leads FDU-Florham with 26 goals on the season and also tops the team with nine assists.  Managanella's helper was her second of the campaign.

Montclair State fired 32 shots in the win, 27 of which were on goal. Sophomore Kara Crampton led the Red Hawks with four goals, while Kelly Schonveld and Tierney Conlon each added three goals.
