– The FDU-Florham Devils women's lacrosse team took a tough 19-3 loss to the No. 7 The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Lions on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.
With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Lions move to 1-0. FDU-Florham sophomore
Brianna Capobianco (Williston Park,N.Y./Kellenberg) netted two goals for the Devils in the loss.
FDU-Florham never led in the game but they kept it close early in the first half. After TCNJ opened the scoring 58 seconds into action, the game remained 1-0 until the Lions struck again five minutes later to build a two-goal lead. Less than 30 seconds later, TCNJ junior
Ava Fitzgerald found the back of the net, which gave the Lions a 3-0 advantage.
At the 8:30 mark of the first half, Capobianco got the Devils on the board with her first goal of the day. Unfortunately for the Devils, TCNJ scored the next six goals before Capobianco added her second goal of the afternoon. The Devils went into intermission trailing 9-2 and were unable to mount a comeback.
TCNJ outshot FDU-Florham by a 41-6 in the game and dominated time of possession. Junior goalkeeper
Grace Warburton (Lake Hopatong, NJ/ Jefferson) was tested early and often and made 10 saves in the loss. Junior midfielder
Courtney Rendinaro (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) notched her first goal of the season and the Devils final score of the afternoon.
Fitzgerald finished with a game-high six goals, while TCNJ senior
Lauren Pigott added four goals and assisted on two others.

The Devils will try to end their two-game skid when they take on Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 5th. The game is set to start at 4 p.m in Hoboken, N.J.
