Box Score MADISON, N.J -- The 13
th ranked FDU-Florham Devils used an explosive second half on Monday night to fly past Kean University 91-62 and remain unbeaten on the season. Four Devils scored in double-figures as the Devils improved to 11-0 overall.
The Cougars (6-6) looked sharp early on and held a 19-12 lead midway through the opening stanza, but the Devils came storming back. FDU finished the half with an 11-1 run which provided them a 43-29 lead at intermission.
Early in the second half, Kean managed to cut the deficit to seven before the Devils ran off on a 15-2 run to build a 58-38 lead with 15:22 to play. The Devils held tight the rest of the way, building their lead to as much as 31 points before ultimately securing the victory.
Leigh-Ann Lively (Bangor, Pa./Notre Dame) was the Devils leading scorer in the contest with 19 points. The junior caught fire from outside and knocked down a game-high four three-pointers. Devils junior guard
Kyra Dayon (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) filled the stat sheet with 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win. Also scoring in double-figures for FDU were
Rachel Groom (Edison, N.J./Edison) and
Shalette Brown (Somerset, N.J./Franklin), who scored 15 and 13 points respectively while each grabbing nine boards.
Simone Smith led the way for the Cougars with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while
Jaquetta Owens had a game-high eight assists for Kean in the loss.
The Devils held the Cougars to 1-for-12 shooting from behind the arc and forced 29 turnovers on the night.
