No. 10 Devils Dominate Cougars

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The No. 10 FDU-Florham Devils continued their winning-ways by rolling over the Misericordia University Cougars, 100-51 on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.

The Devils (15-0, 3-0 MAC) were in control from the outset and cruised to the wire-to-wire victory. FDU led 52-20 at the break and held the Cougars (6-8, 2-2 MAC) to just six made field goals in the opening half of play. Devils freshman point guard Alyssa McDonough (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville) led all scorers with a career-high 20 points on 6-for-11 shooting. McDonough added five assists and two rebounds in the win.

Rachel Groom (Edison, N.J./Edison) helped the Devils jump out to a great start by scoring 13 of the team's first 15 points, equating to a 15-6 advantage just five minutes into play. Misericordia had no answer for the Devils relentless full-court pressure, which resulted in 14 first-half turnovers by the Cougars. FDU knocked down six three-pointers on 13 tries in the opening stanza and entered intermission with a 32-point cushion.

The second half was all Devils as FDU closed the game with a 24-7 run en route to the decisive victory. The Devils bench played a key role in the win, totaling 49 points, led by McDonough's 20 tallies and 13 points from Leigh-Ann Lively (Bangor, Pa./Notre Dame).
