Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils men's basketball team earned an exciting victory by defeating Freedom Conference rival Manhattanville College 72-69 on Wednesday night at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
Will Green (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) scored his 1,000
th career point and led all scorers with 21 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Four Devils posted double-figure efforts in the win, including
Kevin Furlong (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) and
Trevor Sykes (Staten Island, N.Y./St.Peter's Boy's) who tallied 16 and 15 points respectively.
The Devils (7-7, 2-1 MAC) only held a three-point advantage at intermission despite shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor. With nine seconds remaining in the half, Furlong netted a long three-pointer which broke a 35-35 tie. Furlong finished the opening stanza with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
After a strong start to the second half, Furlong found a cutting
Donte Ali (Willingboro, N.J./Medford Tech) for a layup, which gave the Devils a 10-point lead (54-44), their largest advantage of the contest. Ali came off of the bench for FDU and provided a spark by blocking four shots in his 28 minutes of action.
With 1:01 left to play and the Devils holding a 68-61 lead, Manhattanville sophomore guard
Anthony Maestre knocked down a three to bring the Valiants within two possessions. FDU struggled mightily at the free throw line, which prohibited them from sealing the victory.

Colin Campbell with eight seconds left brought the Valiants within one point at 70-69. After Furlong split a pair of free throws, Campbell rushed toward the basket, barreled into FDU guard
Kevin McTiernan (Yonkers,N.Y./Fordham Prep), and was whistled for an offensive foul. With two seconds to play, and FDU leading by three, Manhattanville forward
Jack Bramswig 's half-court heave was off the mark and the Devils held on for the narrow victory.
Bramswig led the Valiants (5-9,1-2 MAC) with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Campbell and Maestre each added 12 points in defeat.
Green reached the 1,000 point mark tonight in his 91
st career game in Madison. The senior forward is the 29
th Devils men's basketball player to accomplish this feat.
