Box Score 4 YORK, PA -- After dropping the first three contests of the weekend, the FDU-Florham Devils volleyball team (11-12) salvaged the four-match York Spartan Invitational by defeating Penn State Abington 3-0.
The Devils finished Friday 0-2, falling to Moravian College 2-3 (23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22, 9-15) in the opener. After dropping the first two sets, the Devils rallied winning the next two sets by identical 25-22 scores, before ultimately dropping the final set 15-9.
In the second match of the day the Devils were swept 3-0 by the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (13-3). FDU-Florham setter Riley Brewer (La Mesa, CA/Helix) managed 24 assists in the three-set defeat.
The Devils started Saturday slowly, dropping the first match to Rowan University 3-1. After falling in the first set 25-20, FDU took the second set 25-11 but proceeded to drop the next two, providing the final result.
Eager to leave Pennsylvania with a win, the Devils rolled over the PSU-Abington Nittany Lions in straight sets 3-0. FDU won the second and third sets by double digits, defeating Abington for the second time this season.
Helena Riede (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) led the way for the Devils with nine kills, four digs and two service aces.

FDU heads to Center Valley, PA to take on DeSales University this Wednesday, October 2nd, with first serve slated for 7 p.m.
