Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The FDU-Florham field hockey team picked up its fourth win of the season on Wednesday night, blanking the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins 2-0.
Tess Loughran (Newton, N.J./Newton) was once again outstanding in net for the Devils and totaled six saves in the shutout. The shutout was the senior goalkeeper's second of the season.
The Devils (4-4) scored two first half goals and Loughran made them stand up, as FDU handed Gwynedd Mercy (4-4) their first home loss of 2013.
Lanie Andrews (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville) delivered the Devils first goal in the 12
th minute by sneaking a shot inside the crease.
Ten minutes later,
Erin O'Connell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland) deflected an assist from
Nicole Hall (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood), netting the Devils second goal.
The score for the freshman O'Connell was the first of her young and promising collegiate career.
Andrews' strike was her team-leading seventh. She has now scored in five of the Devils eight contests this season.
