Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Despite an outstanding effort in net from
Tess Loughran (Newton, NJ/Newton), the FDU-Florham Devils field hockey team fell to their cross-street rival, the Drew University Rangers, by the score of 2-1 on Saturday.
The Devils (3-4) looked poised to upset the unbeaten Rangers (6-0) when
Lanie Andrews (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) knocked home a rebound in the 27
th minute, putting FDU on top 1-0.
With the first half clock showing all zeros, the Rangers managed to score on a Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) rocket from the left side, tying things up, heading to the half.
In the 52
nd minute, with a large crowd in front of the net, the Rangers managed to manufacture the game's decisive goal, equating to the 2-1 final.
The goal for Andrews was her team-leading sixth of the season. The aforementioned Loughran's net-play was fantastic, turning away ten
Rangers shots in defeat.
