Monster Second Half Leads Devils Over Wilkes, 19-13

Box Score MADISON, NJ - With the score tied at 10-10 and 22:57 left in the game, the College at Florham Devils scored nine of the next 10 goals to grab a 19-11 advantage on their way to a 19-13 victory over Wilkes in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 8-7 (4-0 Freedom) while the Colonels dropped to 8-3 (2-2 Freedom).

Wilkes got off to a great start, scoring four of the first give goals of the game to take a 4-1 lead with 17:21 left in the first half.  The Devils came right back though, and ripped off the next six goals to take a 7-4 lead with 9:57 remaining.  Senior midfielder Sara Slicklen scored two goals in the run for FDU.  The Colonels responded this time, tallying five of the next six goals to take a 9-8 lead with 3:21 to go.  The Devils took momentum into intermission however, as junior attack Ashley Schlindwein and Slicklen found the back of the net to give FDU a 10-9 lead heading into the break.

After the Colonels tied the game at 10-10 with 22:57 to play, FDU scored the next six goals to grab a 16-10 lead with 9:35 remaining.  In the run, sophomore attack Courtney Rendinaro notched two goals and an assist.  Wilkes cut their deficit to five, 16-11, with 9:24 to go but the Devils put the game out of reach by scoring the next three goals as Rendinaro once again had two goals and an assist in the spurt.  The Colonels scored two late goals to close to within 19-13 but it was too little, too late as the Devils secured the win.

Rendinaro finished the game with five goals and four assists while Slicklen added five goals of her own.  Senior midfielder Katie Rolwood recorded three goals and two assists, Schlindwein had three goals and an assist, and sophomore defender Caitlyn McGinley had two goals and an assist.  Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Warburton picked up the win, making 15 saves.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at home for Senior Day against Manhattanville beginning at 7 pm.
