Devils Cruise Past Eastern, 22-11

Box Score ST. DAVIDS, PA - In a rematch from last spring's Freedom Conference Tournament Championship Game, the College at Florham Devils produced the same outcome as a year ago but this time they went on the road to beat Eastern by a score of 22-11 on Wednesday afternoon.  Senior midfielder Katie Rolwood tallied six goals and four assists while senior midfielder Sara Slicklen added five goals and an assist in the victory.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-7 (3-0 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 0-12 (0-4 Freedom).

FDU got off to about as good of a start as you can hope for, as the Devils scored the first eight goals of the game to open up an 8-0 lead with 16:38 left in the first half.  Slicklen scored three goals in the outburst while Rolwood added a pair.  After Eastern got on the board 0:30 later, the Devils tallied four of the next five goals to take a 12-2 lead with 13:18 to go.  The Eagles responded with their only real run of the game, scoring three straight to pull to within 12-5 with 3:08 remaining.  The Devils put that rally to bed though, closing the half with three straight goals before beginning the second half with two in a row to grab an 18-5 advantage with 24:00 left in the game.  From that point on, Eastern outscored FDU by a count of 6-4 but by that point the Devils had the game well in hand as they cruised to the 22-11 win.

Aside from Rolwood and Slicklen, senior attack Ally Lerner finished with three goals and an assist, sophomore midfielder Caitlyn McGinley and freshman attack Brianna Capobianco recorded three goals apiece, and sophomore attack Courtney Rendinaro had a goal and two assists.  Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Warburton picked up the win, making seven saves.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at home against Wilkes beginning at 1 pm.
