Box Score MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead but surrendered 11 of the next 16 goals and trailed Lycoming by a score of 11-10 with 7:29 to go in the game. FDU regrouped though and scored the final two goals of the contest to beat the Warriors, 12-11, in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 2-3 while the Warriors dropped to 0-3.
Junior attack
Ashley Schlindwein got things going for FDU by scoring the first two goals of the game. Sophomore midfielder
Courtney Rendinaro made it 3-0 before senior midfielder
Katie Rolwood scored back-to-back goals to give the Devils a 5-0 advantage with 19:08 left in the first half. Lycoming righted the ship though, scoring the next four goals to pull to within 5-4 with 7:28 to go, but FDU tallied the final two goals of the half when Rendinaro and Rolwood found the back of the net to give the Devils a 7-4 halftime edge.
The Warriors scored the first two goals of the second stanza to make it 7-6 but FDU got those goals right back as freshman attack
Brianna Capobianco and Rolwood scored consecutive goals to put FDU back up by three, 9-6. That's when Lycoming made their run however, as the Warriors scored five of the next six goals to grab an 11-10 lead with 7:29 to play. Rendinaro tied the game at 11-11 with 6:37 left before senior attack
Sara Slicklen converted a feed from Rolwood with 3:32 remaining to give FDU a 12-11 lead. Lycoming got some great opportunites in the final minute to tie the game but sophomore goalkeeper
Grace Warburton stood tall to allow the Devils to pick up the hard-fought victory.
Rolwood finished the game with five goals and an assist while Rendinaro added three goals and picked up four ground balls. Warburton earned the win in goal, making 11 saves.
The Devils return to action on Monday, March 11, 2013, against SUNY IT in the Myrtle Beach, SC, Tournament beginning at noon.
